The Romulus Public Library has introduced a “Library of Things.”

What is a library of things? We’re so glad you asked. It is where the library has nontraditional library items such as games, tools, microscopes, and kits that you can check out.

We have numerous cookie cutter kits, general kits, and games you can check out pictured below.


Tech Devices

Chromebooks:

Chromebooks are like laptops. However, they run basic Google products. They provide an internet browser (Chrome) for all your internet needs. In addition, it has various Google products like Google Sheets, Google Doc, and other programs that can help with schoolwork, business, or other needs. Learn more about these tech devices.

Who can get one?

  • Patrons must be 18 years of age or older to place a hold or check out a device.
  • Must have a valid Romulus Public Library card for at least 6 months and be in good standing.
  • Must be a resident of Romulus or Huron Charter Township.
  • Must have a phone number on file to send alerts.

May I return the Chromebook in the book drop or another library?

  • No, Chromebooks MUST be returned directly to Romulus Public Library’s circulation desk.
  • This item cannot be returned to other libraries. It can ONLY be returned at Romulus Public Library.

How long may I keep the Chromebook?

  • The loan period is 21 days.
  • Devices may not be renewed.
  • Users will be limited to one device.

What happens if the Chromebook becomes overdue?

  • Overdue Chromebooks are automatically locked.
  • Staff cannot unlock overdue devices over the phone.
  • You will be given a warning your first time, second time you will be warned about a 30-day ban, third violation you will receive a 30-day ban, and fourth violation will lead to a permanent full tech ban.

What if I break or lose the Chromebook or any of its associated components?

Any damaged or lost item(s) fees will be assessed based on the cost to replace the damaged or lost item(s).

You are responsible for loss or damage to the Chromebook or any of its components.

Mobile Hotspot:

Mobile hotspots provide the internet through Wi-Fi. These T-Mobile hotspots are capable of using phone signals to provide internet. Learn more about these tech devices.
