Library Director – Patty Braden

Patty Braden has served as director of the Romulus Public Library since 2011. Before coming to Romulus, she was director of a public library in north Wisconsin for four years and worked for many years in academic libraries. Patty has a B.S. in Geography from Eastern Michigan University and earned her MILS at the University of Michigan. She enjoys reading, Michigan football, and spending time with family. As library director, Patty is committed to providing excellent service to the community.

Assistant Director / Youth Services Librarian – Jessica Wilhoite

Jessica Wilhoite is the Assistant Director / Youth Services Librarian here at the Romulus Public Library. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a B.A. in History/Art History, then thought – now what? She took to the internet to try and find her next step and, literally, came upon links for library school; she enrolled at Wayne State and graduated in 2010 with her Master’s in Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree.

These days she can be found in the stacks of the Romulus Library, at her desk working hard, or at home with her husband, Jay, and son, Jackson. She loves reading, animals, games, and … oh yeah, and coffee.

Adult Services Librarian – Jake Rynicki

Jake Rynicki is the Adult Services Librarian. Prior to Romulus, Jake has worked for both Dearborn and Melvindale Public Libraries. While working on his B.A. , Jake interned at the Berkowitz Gallery where he cataloged over 200 art objects to be sold off. Part of the internship was archival work. This led him to research jobs in related fields and he applied to Wayne State’s School of Library and Information Science. In 2013, he graduated with his B.A. in Art History: Museum Studies and in 2016 he graduated with his Masters in Library and Information Sciences.

Jake has several goals in life; learn every language of his ancestry (so far he’s studied 3; French, German, and Polish), visit all 50 states (so far 19), and read all the classics he never got to read in school.

Youth Services Librarian – Sandy Herman

Sandy Herman is the new Youth Services Librarian. She has worked at our library at the circulation desk for the past three years, so you may recognize her. Prior to pursuing her MLIS, Sandy got a B.A. in German Language & Literature and a M.A. in Education from the University of Michigan! She thought she wanted to be a teacher, but that didn’t work out as planned. You know what they say about the best laid plans… Don’t worry, it all worked out! Sandy combined her lifelong love of books, language, and education together and decided she’d become a librarian! Sandy will finish her MLIS degree from Wayne State University this year.

When she is not in the library helping patrons and thinking up fun programs for the kids, Sandy can be found wandering around museums, enjoying nature trails, and painting. She loves curling up with her cat, a good book, and a cup of tea.
